We are a vibrant community offering compassion and hope to people throughout the Fox Valley and beyond. Our passion is to live out the example of Jesus as a worship community on mission. So whatever your religious background, check us out and explore Christianity at your own pace.
Worship Experience: Sunday at 10am, 155 Kirkland Circle, Suite 300, Oswego, IL 60543. Informal, all are welcome!
Resolution Church officially began with the North Central Conference of the Free Methodist Church. After much prayer and discernment, the conference invited Mark and Cristie Davenport to move to the growing Southwest suburbs of Chicago in August of 2007. Resolution held its first “public” gathering at their home on July 27th, 2008.
Several new families joined our launch team, which worked toward our official launch on September 14th, 2008. And what an exciting day it was! God blew our minds, bringing 316 people for our launch Sunday during one of the worst floods in Chicago history!
In July of 2009, Erick and Bekki Ewaskowitz joined the staff at Resolution. Erick served as executive pastor and Bekki came on as the worship leader. In June of 2010, Erick assumed the role of Lead Pastor.
In October 2010 (10.10.10) Resolution transitioned to Oswego, IL. This community has been our home ever since. We partner with several local groups to bring Jesus to the community with our hands and feet, hearts and minds.
In June of 2016, then associate pastor Jill Richardson became Lead Pastor of Resolution. Jill and her family look forward to this new adventure with God and His people.
We continue to anticipate God doing great things in and through Resolution!
We exist to be a hope-filled community light that loves without restrictions, supports individuals and families to grow strong in their faith, and comes alongside people who want to learn more about God’s image and redemption for them and our world.
We want to be a church FOR our community, not just IN it. We are on mission with Jesus to announce and demonstrate God’s Kingdom in the Village of Oswego, the greater Fox Valley, and beyond. We want to come alongside the community where we find ourselves to provide love and active support for their needs.
We value God-honoring discussions, growing relationships, service, doubt, and even disagreement. We believe we can reveal God in all we do– at work, home, recreation, and church. We value inter-generational connection and are working toward creating a church where people from multiple generations, backgrounds, and cultures can worship and make deep connections.
Our Core Values
Transformational Teaching: We believe the Bible is true and that biblical teaching is the catalyst for life change.
Passionate Worship: We believe worship should be passionate and inspire people to examine their spiritual, emotional, and relational condition.
Strategic Service: We believe the life mission of every person is to discover their God-given talents and use them to benefit others in the community and build up the Church.
Authentic Community: We believe God created people for authentic and caring relationships practiced in genuine community, and that the church is to thrive in an atmosphere of unity, grace, love, truth, forgiveness, acceptance and encouragement.
Life Change: We believe God calls all believers to intentionally invest themselves in the lives of other people to demonstrate Christ’s transformation.
Biblical Justice: We believe all people should be free from social, economic, racial, and gender discrimination and the church should work to eliminate these evils.
Global Stewardship: We believe that as Christians we have a responsibility to protect and steward God’s creation by efforts of conservation, recycling, and other green initiatives.
Sacrificial Giving: We believe all Christians have a responsibility to use their time and financial resources to support the local church and to assist those in need.
Spiritual Maturity: We believe that all believers are called to progress towards full maturity in Christ.
Our Basic Beliefs
Resolution Church joins in the universal church spanning across space and time in affirming the Apostles’ Creed:
We believe in God the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
We believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic (universal) Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
We belong to a larger faith family called the Free Methodist Church, a family of over 1 million members worldwide who commit to loving God, loving people and making disciples. The vision of the Free Methodist Church is to bring wholeness to the world through healthy biblical communities of holy people multiplying disciples, leaders, groups and churches.
