During the Advent season, we’re looking at the power of songs. Songs can bury themselves in our hearts and minds. What songs did those who surrounded Christ’s birth sing, and why? What important words told the story of his coming? What did those words say about him? What do they say about us?

This week, we continue with Zechariah. His song is quite different than Mary’s, yet also similar. In some ways, he offers her counterpoint and complement.Isn’t that God’s way–to have his people learn from one another and offer diverse thoughts on the kingdom of God? I love the two together. So let’s talk about Zechariah.
