Our Story

The story of Resolution Church is just beginning.  It officially began when Mark and Cristie Davenport, along with their three children, followed God’s call to move from Colorado to the growing Southwest suburbs of Chicago in August of 2007.   Although Mark and Cristie had spent considerable time in the South, coming to Chicago was a return to their midwestern roots, since both of them were born and raised in Michigan.  The vision God gave them for Resolution was for an emerging, relevant, and passionate church that would reach young families, urban professionals, and twenty-somethings.  Mark has always had a passion for doing church differently and for reaching people who are far from God with the life changing message of Christ. His style of relevant, engaging Bible teaching coupled with rock-concert style worship will set the tone for Resolution Church for many years to come.  In June of 2008, Resolution hired Derick Thompson to lead the creative arts/worship ministry of the church.  Derick, and his wife Michelle joined the Resolution team with great enthusiasm and have been a vital part of the early planning.  Resolution held its first “public” gathering at the home of Mark and Cristie on July 27th, 2008. The theme was a Brazilian barbecue and was attended by 93 people.  The food was incredible, the kids had a blast, and the adults enjoyed a wonderful Midwestern summer evening.  Of the 93 people who attended, several new families joined our launch team, which worked toward our launch on September 14th, 2008. And what an exciting day it was!  God blew our minds bringing 316 people for our launch Sunday during one of the worst floods in Chicago history!  It truly was a miracle! On January 18th, 2009, Resolution found an amazing new home at Showplace 16 Theater in south Naperville.  With a solid core group of over 100 people who now call Resolution home.
